For the couple who wishes to celebrate their love in the Polynesian tradition MAOHI NUI offers different romantic options. Weddings, vow renewals or marriage anniversaries are celebrated by a non denominational priest, with no official power. The priest is dressed in an elegant traditional costume. Polynesian dancers and musicians are normally part of the ceremony, unless the couple prefers a more simple celebration.
The ceremony starts late afternoon, in a setting made of coconut leaves and hibiscus flowers, on the Matira beach or on an private island. The language used is French or English, depending on the preference of the couple. A small part of the ceremony is done in the Tahitian language.
Details of the ceremony for the “traditional” and the “simple” wedding:
The couple wears the white pareo that we give them. The priest leads the ceremony and declares the husband “tané” and the wife “vahiné” under the Polynesian tradition, before giving them a Tahitian name. The couple exchanges flower leis and crowns, which symbolizes harmony, before receiving the wedding certificate from the priest. The certificate is made on a fine peace of tree bark called “tapa”. Songs, music and dances punctuate the entire ceremony, lasting about 30 minutes.
Bora Bora is a great place for your wedding with its white sand beaches, exotic flowers and lush rain forest landscapes.
Weddings on Bora Bora are not legally binding, so you will have to do the official marriage bit when you return home so your wedding is recognized.

is especially made for the couple who wishes to celebrate their love with a Polynesian wedding on an island “motu”, as well as discovering Bora Bora’s natural wonders with a lagoon excursion and a polynesian lunch.
